This extra heavy and ruggedly made universal testing stand is used wherever the highest accuracy is required in using a comparator. It can be used in many different ways; on the surface plate in testing parallel surfaces of work pieces on machine tools for setting up pieces to be machined with reference to already existing surfaces or for inspecting mounted pieces for run-out etc. The surfaces of the H-formed base, the column and the extension arm are high precision ground. The column can be moved and clamped in any position of the base with a knurled nut. The extension arm, which can be adjusted in height moved lengthwise and swiveled is sufficiently rigid that vibrates during the measurement even with the fullest extension are at a minimum. The base of the indicator stand is made of steel or cast iron.
